History—Distribution Division of Georgia-Pacific Corporation
The distribution division of Georgia-Pacific Corporation began operations in 1954 with thirteen warehouses utilized for the storage and distribution of Georgia-Pacific plywood. Over the next forty years, the division quickly grew to over 130 warehouses nationwide, offering a wide range of products. In 1994, to build a better, more centralized distribution platform, the division consolidated its warehouses and created two large sales and operations centers in Denver, CO and Atlanta, GA.
BlueLinx Today—A New Company is Born
In May of 2004, Cerberus Capital Management, along with a team of senior leaders from the division, purchased the assets of the distribution division from Georgia-Pacific, forming the company you know today—BlueLinx Corporation. One year later, the proud new owners successfully led BlueLinx through an initial public offering to become a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Today, BlueLinx with over 2,000 employees, more than sixty company-owned locations, more than fifty reloads, and a fleet of over 600 trucks and over 1,000 trailers, which service all major metropolitan areas in the forty-eight contiguous states. BlueLinx sells to over 11,500 customers operating 25,000 locations across the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands.
As an independent distributor, BlueLinx has expanded its product offering to include more than 10,000 products and 70,000 SKUs. Select from a broad array of the most well-respected brands in the industry.

About Nichol's Lumber
As the owner of the Pinellas Framing and Finishing Company, Phil Nichols has built a successful business on quality craftsmanship, service to his customers, and a likeable personality that knew no
strangers. Following the request of his close friend, who was also a key customer, Phil took on the project of building five summer cabins along central Florida's beautiful Withlacoochee River. During this trip Phil felt that Dunnellon, with its beautiful surroundings and more relaxed pace, was for him. After discussing his ideas with his wife Carol, he sold the framing company and they relocated to Dunnellon.
He began serving owner-builders as a general contractor. It was as a general contractor that Phil realized the need for a qu
ality building products supplier in the Dunnellon area. According to Philip Nichols, Phil's son and current Vice-President of Nichols Lumber Company, “Dad was so mad at a lumber company (no longer in business) because they would not pick up a bundle of crooked studs. It was at this time Dad decided he could do a better job servicing contractors and opened his own lumber company. That's how we got started.” Nichols Lumber was established in 1980 as a full service lumber yard.
Neal Wingo, Phil's friend from Clearwater, moved up to Dunnellon in 1982 and joined Phil and Carol in the business. Upon Phil's passing in 1997, Carol and Phil Jr. became partners with Neal until his retirement in 2001. As the area has grown, Nichols Lumber has grown to meet the demands of an expanding construction market. From a small lumber yard in downtown Dunnellon, Nichols Lumber now occupies twenty acres of prime industrial property just outside Dunnellon. No longer just a local home center, Nichols Lumber has also become one of the biggest contractor suppliers in the area.
Through the years, we at Nichols Lumber have improved our facilities, upgraded our equipment, and maintained the highest quality of inventory. However, it is our professional, competent, and customer oriented employees that have made the difference. Our customers rely on the expertise of every one of our employees to get their job done.
